Clinics

We offer a range of clinics on a regular basis. When you phone the practice a member of our team will be able to advise which clinic is most appropriate to meet your healthcare needs and will also advise on availability.

Minor Surgery

Drs Sampson, Dallas and Orr perform a range of procedures such as removal of cysts, ingrowing toenails, removal of small skin lesions and warts. Where appropriate, you will be booked into the next available minor surgery clinic following advice from your clinician during an initial appointment.

Diabetic

Our team will check how your diabetes is being managed, help you with any difficulties, and pre-empt any possible future health problems. They'll also help you learn how to look after your diabetes and anything else you might need to know about, like new technology.

Although you know what your blood sugar test results are every day, if you're having a bad patch, it can be hard to figure out why on your own. Clinic staff will help you understand why this is happening and what your body is doing over a longer period of time.

Make sure you ask your diabetes team if you don't understand anything such as new test results.

House of Care

House of Care is a collaborative conversation where the healthcare professional supports the patient with their long-term health conditions (LTCs) to fully explore and describe what matters to the patient. The healthcare professional brings clinical issues to the conversation and the patient shares their experiences of their condition/s so that together a plan can be created that will support patients to thrive in their day-to-day life.

For example; NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease) should be regularly monitored to check that it is not progressing. For more information about NAFLD and what we offer at Cairn to support your health journey please see our patient leaflet here.

Respiratory

One of our Advanced Pharmacist Practitioners, Joan Macleod, hosts our weekly respiratory review clinic on a Wednesday morning. Where your asthma is not stable then you can book an asthma consultation with Joan to review your management of your asthma and to conduct a medication review.

Child Immunisations - this is no longer a GP service (effective 1 March 2023)

Any questions regarding child or adult immunisations after 1 March 2023 are to be directed to the NHS Highland Service Delivery Centre helpline: phone 08000 320 339, Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 5:00pm.

When should my baby be immunised?

It's important that your baby has their immunisations at the right age – the first ones are given at 8 weeks old. They'll be given further doses of these immunisations when they're 12 weeks and 16 weeks old.

Other immunisations are given:

    • between 12 and 13 months of age

    • from 2 years of age

    • from age 3 years 4 months

    • in primary school

    • in their teenage years

To prepare your child for their vaccination you might wish to watch this BING 'vaccinations' clip with them.

Postnatal checks

You should have your postnatal check 6 to 8 weeks after your baby's birth to make sure you feel well and are recovering properly. When you call us to book your check we will give you a telephone appointment with the doctor to discuss mum and baby and then attend the practice for a physical check on the same day.

As always, if you have any concerns before or after your scheduled postnatal check you should call the practice for advice and to speak to a member of our team.
