Asthma reviews and management

Asthma review

It is very important that patients who are on inhalers to treat their asthma are reviewed each year. National data shows that asthma is not managed as well in the UK as it is elsewhere in Europe and this is partly because many patients are not reviewed each year.

UK asthma treatment guidance changed in 2024 and it is important that we have all our patients on the most up-to-date and effective treatment. See this link for more information.

Please note that our asthma clinic is purely for non-urgent appointments. If you are having a flare-up of your asthma you should discuss this with our on-the-day duty team. Call the practice on 01463 712233 to make an appointment.

Blue inhaler (salbutamol) overuse

Patients with asthma should rarely need to use a blue “reliever” inhaler. If you are using more than 3 inhalers per year or using your reliever more than 3 times per week, please click here.

Respiratory resource hub for patients and carers

This Respiratory Resource Hub has been developed as an information source for people living with respiratory symptoms or conditions, and for their carers. It includes information gathered together from trusted sources, mostly third sector organisations (such as health charities) and the NHS. We hope you will find the Respiratory Resource Hub useful: Respiratory resource hub
